If I receive my goggles and mask (and a multitude of other things actually....) in the mail sometime before the 13th I will be definitely in. I'll need a ride though. Sad Also, I'll most likely be on the Green team.

For the goggles head down to canadian tire and pick up a set of paint ball ones it will cost you 40$ or so. As for running a GBBR its probly going to be too cold to run it you might want to think of renting something.

buy co2 mags, they work better in colder temperatures but they are hard on the guns.

GBBRs are great indoors where the temperature is constant year round but in outdoors they aren't reliable in the spring and fall when the temperatures are colder. on average if its below 15 degrese and your using propane mags you generally only get 2 or 3 shots per mag.

Re: Combat 307 Player Appreciation Day - Free Game Nov 13
They aren't consistent in hot weather either. Lots of stories around where someone leaves their gun in the sun for 20 minutes and then it chronies 510fps.

CO2 has the same problems as propane in the cold where the liquid does not want to gassify but because it has a higher working pressure at any given temperature it still works in temperatures where propane wont. I had a WE Hi-Cappa with a CO2 mag at one point and at room temp it chronied ~460fps and the blowback felt like it was going to blow the slide off but at a game at the mill in mid winter at about -15*C it was still shooting a functional 320fps with normal blowback.

What some people do is:
30*C + run duster (hfc134)
10*C to 29*C run propane (hfc22 or "green gas")
9*C and below don't use GBB's or use CO2 mags

Some mags can hold CO2 normally if you get the Madbull CO2 adapter and fill your mags with the 12g CO2 cartirdges from Canadian Tire for pellet guns. I would NOT recommend this for most guns since most are designed to run hfc134 which is lower than propane. The mags have to be designed from the get go to be able to handle the higher pressures of CO2. The body of the mag is normally not an issue but most stock valves (both fill valves and firing valves) are not intended to handle that pressure.

At 20*C (room temp) propane is ~110psi where as CO2 it at ~860psi
At 0*C propane is ~51psi while CO2 is ~550psi
At -25*C propane is ~22psi while CO2 is ~275psi

51psi is already going to barely run your GBB if at all. Some people would say it will only run your GBB for a couple shots but thats actually the wrong thinking. At that temperature propane doesn't really want to turn into a gas too quickly, it wants to remain a liquid, so you need to wait quite a while between shots to reach the maximum vapour pressure inside the mag. After looking up these values I'm not sure why the fps of CO2 mags is so low compared to the comparison of pressures. Its not that I expect CO2 at room temp to fire 8x the fps of propane but I would expect a higher change than 140fps (320fps average propane, 460fps my only personal value for CO2.)

*Edit*
A ha! I forgot how blowback mechanisms work in GBB pistols (what these values are from.) Once the BB starts moving and leaves the "sealed" environment of the hopup rubber (relative to the rest of the barrel) the gas is redirected into the blowback mechanism so you don't have a load of wasted gas vented out of the barrel after the BB is gone. Thats why there was only a 140fps increase but it felt like the gun was going to blow itself apart. Thats also why using heavier BB's in a GBB pistol will result in a higher muzzle energy (not velocity) as the heavier BB's take longer to accelerate.

HEATED indoor. And the only answer is pretty much TTAC in Toronto. I have never been there but from some locals who have they described it as "a gym with plywood walls you could blow over with a fart." Also from what I have heard through the grape vine the normal games at TTAC are noob mosh pits with all the skilled and elitist players only doing CAPS (Canadian Airsoft Practical Shooting, their version of IPSC or International Pistol Shooting Competition which is just timed runs through a preset course, no force on force.)

There was the mill somewhat near Montreal but it was as warm as my ex's heart when I dumped her and last I heard went 100% paintball. There are a couple places that have pretty much abandoned facilities without heat like the old mental asylum near Barrie which had its only planned game cancelled due to really dumb organization ($80 field fee, prepaid, but the game is not guaranteed to happen unless enough people prepay.) Other than that there are games on old beached ferries on the East Coast and an indoor heated facility in Winnipeg that is supposed to be half decent for winter gaming.

If you want to discuss other games/fields please do it else where. This is a sign up thread not a discussion.
