Airsoft Canada and Age Verification
Airsoft Canada ( http://www.airsoftcanada.com) can be a great and wonderful resource if used properly. ASC has some terrific information and resources regarding mechbox help, reviews and classifieds.
The major issue with ASC is that it is not “noob” friendly. Airsoft Canada has not grown with the times and is stuck in the airsoft stone ages. Most “noob” questions are answered with some level of hostility opposed to helpfulness. We here at OVA recommend you have an ASC account, but use it as a research tool. Ask all your questions here on OVA that way you can avoid the ASC Flame Fest.
Unlike OVA, ASC has decided to keep some important information hidden behind the AV (Age Verification) System. If you’re interested in using the ASC classifieds you will need to meet up with one of the following people:
Age Verification Reps
Ottawa South:
Greg / Chef (Mon-Friday by appointment only)
Ottawa West:
Jean / Testtube (Mon-Friday 8am-3pm by appointment only)
Ottawa East:
Greg / Chef (Mon-Friday by appointment only)
Petawawa:
moto
The LZ Ottawa Airsoft Field:
Bryan / -EX- - At the LZ Ottawa ONLY.

Airsoft has come a long way in the last five years and the concept of Age Verification is an anachronism. ASC and local forum classified sections are no longer the only reliable way to get an airsoft gun in Canada; many web stores now offer legitimately imported airsoft guns for sale. It is important to stay with the times. We feel that continuing to impose the AV restriction on conversation about where to buy guns only retards the development of airsoft as a publicly accepted sport, and hinders the involvement of new players.
CBSA is allowing importation of airsoft guns that have a muzzle velocity of 366fps - 500fps on 6mm .20g plastic BBs. Although this does not necessarily translate to legality, such transactions appear to be common and performed as a routine. In the absence of other actual and factual contradictory actions by other agencies, it can be reasonably accepted that at least part of the government accepts these airsoft guns. Since CBSA is the immediate agency dealing with importation to Canada, we will accept its action as our guidance. CBSA's memo on the 366fps requirement and their state as "uncontrolled" firearms can be found here: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/...05-eng.pdf
This means that while you may not need a license for purchase, you do need to be 18. We are removing the requirement that a member be Age Verified to view airsoft gun classified ads. It is still the seller's responsibility to ensure that they are selling to someone eligible to own an airsoft gun. This model works very well on Canadian Gun Nutz where there is no Age Verification or PAL Verification system and there is no reason why it can't work for airsoft.
