New to the world of airsoft
Hello everyone,

I have been looking into airsoft for sometime now and thankfully found this community!! I am a little unclear of how the "games" are acctually played. Could someone please fill me in a little? I have a pretty good group who would like to get involved as well, but they would like some more info.

I am sure there is other Threads that explain it, but I couldn't find any.

Thanks!

Well Welcome to the fold.

The first step in your airsoft journey is to meet up with an age verifier, you can find a list of verifiers here: http://www.ottawavalleyairsoft.ca/forums/thread-50.html

I am a little confused by your question. If I miss something, please feel free to ask.

Games are usually divided into two teams (normally by colour - tan BDU vs green BDU). From there there are 3 basic types of game.

- Skirmish
- Milsim-Lite
- Milsim

Skirmishs are mini-games that usually last no more than hour. They usually have little rules and very simple.

Milisim-Lite are what I consider partial scenario games. Basically they are either half or full day games that have some sort of a back story to them. Typically a milsim-lite game will be lax on the rules and focus more on the overal enjoyment.

Milsim games are full day events that focus on emmersing the player into the story and feel of the game. These types of games usually have a strict rule set.

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Yeah that helps a lot. One of the only things I don't understand, is how do you know you hit someone? It is easy to tell in paint ball, but not sure with this. Really stupid question, but you use the plastic BB's?

Thanks

We use 6mm plastic BB's, thats true. Airsoft is an honour sport, so in that since you feel your hit. The motto is "If you think your hit, you are hit."

Generally speaking there are not to many players who don't call their hits, and those that don't call their hits usually don't stick around.

perfect. That is what I thought. That also is very incouraging to know that so many people that particepate are honest. This info should help out a lot. Now to start looking at gear lol.

Thanks again.

We do have a used section on the forums, however for guns you must be age verified. We have an age verifier for pretty well every part of Ottawa, so it shouldn't be too hard to find one of us. The AV meeting is also a good time to ask questions about the sport.

I usually do mine at a Timmies. I have had them last as short as 5 minutes and as aslong as nearly 3 hours.

Also remember it is illegal to import an airsoft gun, so make sure you look at Canadian websites.
