HELP... My M4 is not responding!
Hello,

My M4 is no longer responding to anything (M4 CQBR from VA)...Last game i had was in Pet and it just went dead on me. Arnold check it out and though it might be the trigger switch... so i got a new new, just spent most of today replacing it (first timer)... and no dice... averything click as it should but no power. batteries are fresh as can be... wires are all connected... the motor was ok when Arnold checked it.
Not that its a rush but id like to get it fixed... HELP! if there's anyone in the Ottawa area that can help me out, that would be great!

Thanks!

Crispix

RE: HELP... My M4 is not responding!
Hazard that's a wild guess, isn't it? lol

It could be:
battery --> trigger
trigger --> motor
motor --> battery

How did Arnold test the motor? I have two motors sitting on my desk that spin as they should but if you put them in a gun they wont turn it over. They are fried and can still reach high rps when not under load but as soon as you put a load on them they wont spin.

Could be a seized up mechbox as well. Did you try reassembling the mechbox without the piston and spinning the gears by hand?

Does the motor spin when not under load? Remove the pistol grip plate totally and drop the motor as far as it will go while still keeping the plugs attached. Set the gun to auto and pull the trigger. If the motor spins its mechanical (or a fried motor), if it doesn't its electrical.

Have you removed the fuse in the gun? They serve absolutely no purpose except keep idiots who hold down the trigger after the gun stops working for tens of seconds from melting their wiring. I remove the fuses in all AEG's and solder the wires together. Could be a blown fuse.

i actually had the same problem at my first game (pissed me off) but i managed to fix it on the spot by taking out the motor and fixing the wires that connect to the motor... turns out all that happened was the wires were squashed and not connected properly

RE: HELP... My M4 is not responding!
for those following the issue, crispix was over to my place today, we went over his gun and isolated the issue to something in the rear wiring section. Turns out that his fuse was blown, but it was not obvious, the fuse visually showed no signs of damage, but we connected the wire ends with a live battery and the gun started responding.

So we snipped the fuse, and patched the wire. While we were in there, we converted his shiznit to deans.

I figured a connection issue from switch to battery. If your gun doesnt make any noises at all when the trigger is pulled its almost 100% an electrical issue.
