Event Posting Guidelines
In order to set aside a place for our Upcoming Games, we have decided to allow only events in this area. This means that the only threads that should be created in this section should be actual events that you want people to sign up for. If you're posting a "not doing this after all" or "guaging interest" thread, please post it in general.

Posting Guidelines
1) Subject format:
| |
-OR-
R&R - | |

2) If the main game thread located on another website (LZ, ASC, etc), do not simply post a link. Post a brief description, then the link.

Additionally, we now have the event management system in play. You create events similarly to how you create polls. You will notice when posting here, you can check a box saying "I want to post an event". If you choose this option, once you have created your thread, you will be redirected to the event creation page.

Area Game Hosts
Members of the community who regularly host events are eligible to join the "Area Game Hosts" group. This group has a few perks when it comes to posting in this area. The first, is that they are moderators in this area, and can police their own threads. The second, is a dedicated "sandbox" subforum to create events, to ensure they're completely set up before they are opened to the public.

RE: Event Posting Guidelines
Game hosts can now choose to enable waiting lists on teams that are full or locked.

What does this mean for regular users?
  • You may join one team, and also join the waiting list for another.
  • You may not sign guests up for waiting lists.
  • If a slot becomes available, you will automatically be promoted off of the waiting list.
    • If you are promoted and you were also signed up for a different team (not including guests) you will be removed from the other team.
    • You will receive an automatic PM notifying you that you have been promoted off the waiting list.

RE: Event Posting Guidelines
You can now subscribe to events

If you are subscribed to an event, when there are changes to the event (signup, remove, etc.) you will get a notice at the top of your screen. When you visit an event you have subscribed to, if there have been changes since your last visit, you will see a change log.
  • There are options in your UserCP->Options to control auto-subscriptions.
  • By default, you will auto-subscribe to any event you create.
  • You can enable auto-subscriptions on events you sign up for.
  • You can manually subscribe to an event with the "Subscribe" button at the bottom of the event.
  • You can control your event subscriptions in UserCP->Event Subscriptions

Update: To keep database use minimal I used existing data to generate these subscriptions. As a result, a few of you seem to have a couple lingering subscriptions. If you want to get rid of them you can use the link above.
Event Roster Sort-Order

Dutchy suggested that it is easier to find your friends in a roster, to see if people are going to a game, if the roster signups are sorted alphabetically. To that effect, I have created an option in your UserCP->Options so that you have that option. The default for this option is alphabetical sort; if you prefer signup order, follow the link and to the options page and change the sort option.

You can also temporarily (while you view an event - this is not saved) change the sort order of an event you are viewing. There is a small link next to the rosters to change to sort order.

Waiting list signups will continue to be sorted by signup order regardless, so you can see the priority of signups on the waiting lists.

Again, if any of you have an idea for an option like this don't hesitate to speak up!

RE: Event Posting Guidelines
Subscriptions Update

UserCP Options and the Event Subscriptions Panel both now allow you to choose a subscription type for your default event signup mode and for individual subscribed events.

The options available:
  • Do not subscribe
  • Subscribe, no email notifications
  • Instant email notification
  • Daily Digest

If you choose instant notification you will not receive emails for subsequent activity until you have visited the event.

The daily digest option should be familiar to anyone subscribed to mailserv lists, but for anyone who is not I will explain:
-The system sounds out digest emails every day around 3AM.
-If there has been activity on any event to which you have a daily digest subscription, you will get an email with the event name, and a summary of what has happened since your last digest email.
-You will only receive 1 digest email per day. Multiple digest subscriptions with activity will be lumped into a single email.

Hopefully these options
