RE: LZ OTTAWA 2011 Noob Day 04/02/11
All new players (and I know there are quite a few here since I age verified a lot myself) GO TO THIS GAME!

If you are feeling a little unsure, or timid, just go and I guarantee it will be fun. The LZ is one of the best fields in Canada in terms of what it has available to play with. A CQB house, a base with three story towers on the four corners, flats, hills, burms, woods, swamps, everything!

Man without bacon should not fry shirt.

I am so hating all my weekend shifts right now Sad

But I definitely have to echo what Lutnit said, if you're new to airsoft, whether you've played the game only a couple of times or never at all, GO TO THIS GAME! And if you're a vet, go anyways Tongue

Sounds like a great game for a first-timer. I'm definitely going if I can hitch a ride with someone.

RE: LZ OTTAWA 2011 Noob Day 04/02/11
Speaking as one of the n00bs that went to this event last year, I really can't say enough good about it. It was magnificently, stupendously awesome.

There were lots of people to talk to, lots of gear on display (mostly on people, but people are always willing to discuss their gear), and the overall vibe was very welcoming. Of course, the vibe is always welcoming, but as a n00b, you don't know that yet.

The talks about rules, gear, hydration and so forth also helped, because it wasn't assumed that anyone actually knew anything. And that helps when you really don't know anything.

I have no doubt that noob day set me off on the right foot with Airsoft, and kudos to Ex for hosting it and the community for supporting it.

I'll definitely be there, and I'll be more than willing to talk about my gear. Big Grin

Very nice to hear. We look forward to see all the returning players and new ones alike. I think you'll like the direction the LZ is going this year. We've listened to what you want and we're bringing you even more. If you stopped by our booth at TAC11 you would have gotten a glimpse into just what we are bringing out this year.

RE: LZ OTTAWA 2011 Noob Day 04/02/11
We're looking forward to seeing everyone!

Zofia I don't think it was me that you met..although I did meet quite a few people there. I'm the bearded one LOL.

I'll address a few things here as I have received a few pms in regards to the poison Ivy.

Yes it is on the property. How bad it is right now is anyone's guess.
The field will be sprayed several times this year so it will be under control.

That said I myself am highly allergic to the plant. I get it very easily. Yet with a few precautions I have not gotten it in 3 years. Go to the LZ ottawa website and look at my tips on how to reduce your chances of exposure.

Be aware that you can get it from the root or a dead leaf etc. Honestly folks it's very easy to avoid getting it and the noob day will not see you crawling around in it anyway.

RE: LZ OTTAWA 2011 Noob Day 04/02/11
I have spoken to Ex, and as the LZ does not require Age Verification on their site to view games, I am moving this game thread to the welcome area, in hopes that non-age verified members of the boards are able to make it out, play and get AV'd.

This is still an 18+ event!

Ex: I took the liberty of updating your OP to indicate that it is an 18+ event.

Is this (http://www.lzottawa.ca/forums/ucp.php?mode=register) where you tried to register Deadbeat?

I'm not sure if LZ requires activation or not via email after an account is created. I would assume so, but an LZ admin would have to verify this.

From what I see on the LZ boards, the newest registered user is Moto and he registered on Wednesday. If you were just trying this morning I'd guess it didn't go though, and advise you to try again.
